Corporate Wellness Goes International

One by one, foreign countries and companies are getting on board with corporate wellness.  The country of Jamaica is even looking to make corporate wellness mandatory for all of its companies.  Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Employers Federation, Jacqueline Coke-Lloyd, states that "It is well known that employers that invest in workplace safety and health can expect to reduce fatalities, injuries and illnesses resulting in down time; improve workers morale and productivity while lessening absenteeism, labour loss and the cost of retraining; and most importantly, reduce cost in fines which the pending Occupational Environment Safety and Health Act will impose on companies, which are non-compliant."
More and more companies state-side are implementing wellness programs as well, but most do not even address the biggest employee cost burden, presenteeism.  A professional wellness program that addresses presenteeism at its core could increase the return on investment of a company's wellness program by two to three fold.

Have you determined the sources your company's employee cost burden?  What kind of wellness program do you have?  Has your company explored the concept of presenteeism?  Please view the discussion on this post and comment below.
